Thoma Creek Horn Coral

The Thoma Creek site is a fossil location where horn corals are found as chert inclusions in limestone. This site is very near the Canadian Border, accessed via the North Fork (of the Flathead) Road and forest service roads. The Official designation of the main road is MT 486. The first 12 miles from US Hwy 2 are paved to secondary standards, with the rest being gravel with some rough paving in places. Hwy 486 intersects with US Hwy 2 in Columbia Falls. The site is 60 miles plus from Columbia Falls. Allow a minimum two hours driving time from US Hwy 2 to the collecting site.

From time-to-time, new location cards will be added to this list, so you may want to check back often.
