Bandmann Flats - Deer Creek Selenite

Selenite rosettes may be found at the Bandman Flats collecting site, also referred to locally as the Deer Creek site. Access is from MT Hwy 200 in East Missoula and county roads. Driving time from MT Hwy 200 is approximately ten minutes. A 1/4 to 1/2 mile hike along the Montana Rail Link right of way is required to reach the exposed Glacial Lake Missoula lakebed silts, where these rosettes are found. Please note this rail line is an active railroad, and therefore be ultra-cautious at all times, as the trains are going at speed when they pass through this area.

From time-to-time, new location cards will be added to this list, so you may want to check back often.
