Calvert Hill - Red Button Mine

The Red Button Mine at Calvert Hill is an open pit tungsten mine, now abandoned, with garnet, epidote, aquamarine, and scheelite to be found. Some of these are fluorescent. The pit is flooded, and extreme caution should be taken in its immediate vicinity. Access is from MT Hwy 43 from either Wisdom or Divide at Interstate 15, and then a few miles of forestry roads. Allow an hour driving time from either community to get to the site. You can drive directly onto the mine dump area, with plenty of area to explore. A hammer and chisel are needed to break open rock, although plenty of smaller specimens of some of the materials may be available simply for the taking.

From time-to-time, new location cards will be added to this list, so you may want to check back often.
